05.04.2005Hotels and travel agencies establish better address qualityMarket leaders make deals for long-term collaboration at ITB Maxdorf, March 24, 2005: Two leading software producers have decided on a long-term collaboration with AddressDoctor. Sabre and MICROS-FIDELIO will deliver their products in the future with a series of functions for checking, correction and enhancement of postal addresses worldwide. The acquisition of a new customer in the tourism industry can be ten times more expensive than the retention of an existing customer. Well, what can be done if the existing customer cannot be reached, because the customer’s address is incorrect? MICROS-FIDELIO, the worldwide leader of software for hotels, and Sabre, the number one for booking and reservation systems in travel agencies, have for the first time, in the scope of the International Tourism Exchange (ITB) Berlin, introduced solutions for the automatic rectification of faulty addresses. Thereby they laid the foundation stone for a multiple-year association with the German software company, Platon® Data Technology, the producer of AddressDoctor. The collaboration was duly celebrated on March 14 at a joint exhibition in Berlin (see www.addressdoctor.com/itbparty). Tools for the effective support of address entry have been sought after for many years by specialist groups. These could not be delivered to date due to the absence of a global solution. AddressDoctor bridges this gap, the system covers 240 countries with a mouse click. “The quality of address data is the basis for the success of advertising measures and customer retention systems,” confirms Michael Toedt, the managing director of the company consultancy, Toedt Dr. Selk und Coll. based at Munich. Toedt develops CRM strategies for the travel industry and frequently meets with the same problems – less time and often want of care at the check-in, communication problems at the call centre, and the transfer of incorrect or incomplete data from the reservation system. “With many hotels and tour operators, 10% of the marketing expenditure is burned up for mailings with faulty addresses, “explains Toedt. “Not included in the calculations are the lost sales that arise due to incorrect analyses because, among other things, they are based on faulty data.” AddressDoctor is seamlessly integrated in Sabre and in Opera of MICROS-FIDELIO. An additional installation of hardware or software is not required, and also the usual updating of postal reference data is dispensed with. AddressDoctor works like a web service on a fast and secure online connection and delivers results directly to the acquainted masks of both applications within milliseconds. “It was important for us in the design and development that the users in hotels and travel agencies need not learn any additional programs, “describes Sven Schreiber, founder and managing director of Platon®. The system need be ‘subscribed’ only once, has a monthly billing and can be itemised according to sub-brands, locations and campaigns.
