IATA opts for the AddressDoctor eCommerce service
|
|
| |
The most global challenge yet
|
AddressDoctor the service for truly global databases
The innovative AddressDoctor solutions and products help many successful companies to optimise their internet-based activities.
The International Air Transport Association, better known as IATA, has
decided to use AddressDoctor eCommerce to increase efficiency of their
customer services.Of course IATA's business is very
international. Airports are found all around the world and consequently
an address from practically every country in the world can be found in
IATA's database. The first challenge was to merge and standardize
multiple databases. The AddressDoctor service offering was a perfect
match for this task.
To then prevent incorrect input for newly entered data, IATA has chosen
to use the AddressDoctor eCommerce
Web Service. This helps validating new data right on the spot. One
crucial step to make shipments arrive on time.
The AddressDoctor XML Web Service is the ideal solution for IT
systems that have access to the Internet. Postal address data can be
validated within fractions of a second and an immediate feedback to
online customers or call center agents is possible. To accomplish such
a validation AddressDoctor makes use of a Reference database with
postal data from more than 200 countries and territories.
More information on IATA can be found at www.iata.org.

The address format of Greece
|
|
|
|
|
In this section we answer your frequently asked questions on international addresses. Today's topic: the address format used in
Greece.
An address from Greece consists of the following elements:
NAME OF ADDRESSEE
BUILDING_NUMBER STREET_NAME
POSTAL_CODE LOCALITY_NAME
COUNTRY
The postal code consists of 5 digits that are separated by a space after
the first three digits.
Depending on the transliteration scheme used, the Greek equivalent for
the word post box is "Tahidromiki Thirida" or "Tahydromiki Thyrida".
The commonly used abbreviation is "T.Th.".
Even though Greece has provinces, they are not part of the postal
addresses.
Here are some sample addresses:
CONSTANTINOS KRITIKAKOS
56 ATHINAS
382 22 VOLOS
GREECE
CHRISTOS LARSIS
56 VOGA KIMONOS
546 45 THESSALONIKI
GREECE
Of course all AddressDoctor products support this format.
