Speed and Certification for the USA

In August the United States Postal Service (USPS) awarded a CASS certification to an AddressDoctor software product. The powerful software libraries are now part of the standard AddressDoctor offering.

The US is probably the largest market for address data quality products. For many years the CASS certification has been the quality benchmark for software products. During the certification process a set of 150000 "prepared" addresses has to be processed with 98.5% accuracy. As a result of the certification process all AddressDoctor products are now capable of returning ZIP+4 codes for US addresses.

Detailed information on the CASS certification process can be found on the USPS Web Site

http://www.usps.com/ncsc/addressservices/certprograms/cass.htm

CASS processing is available trough the Web Services and the CERTIFIED processing mode of the software libraries. Using this mode, software vendors can integrate a CASS certifiable component into their products. More information on the AddressDoctor software libraries is available at

The German eCircle AG uses the AddressDoctor Data Quality Center

Since March e-Mail marketing company eCircle AG has been using the AddressDoctor Data Quality Center to improve the quality of their postal address data.

eCircle has access to over 36 million E-Mail addresses and is one of the largest E-Mail marketing companies in Europe.

Using the AddressDoctor Data Quality Center eCircle customers' data can be validated and cleaned up from duplicates and address errors. "The integrated Self-Service-Solution of AddressDoctor has impressed us very much", says Christopher Kollat, Head of Media Product Management for eCircle, "without annoying waiting periods we can use the system from several locations at the same time - even on weekends".

The AddressDoctor Data Quality Center is an efficient, browser based online solution for address quality. Besides postal address validation, change of address processing (NCOA), duplicate identification and other enrichment is available. All these functions are available as a self service offering.

Country information Argentina

Argentina flag

Area 2.766.890 sqkm
Population: 38.592.150 (2005) - 14 per sqkm
Capital: Buenos Aires
Official languages: Spanish ("Castellano")
GNP: 2004 per capita: US$ 14.109
Currency: 3,09 Argentinian Peso (ARS) = 1 (USD)

After a long time we are proud to offer a new Argentinian data set. Released in October we offer a complete data set containing more than 2 million street addresses for the entire country. Of course the new dataset includes the updated postal code of Argentina post.

Address format

In 1999 the postal code (CPA, Código Postal Argentino) format of Argentina changed from a block of 4 digits to a block of 8 alphanumeric characters that are placed to the left of the locality name and describe an address as follows:

D 4444 EEE
Prefix Code Suffix
(Province) (Locality) (Block)

The first character is called the prefix and the last three the suffix. The new postal code contains a province indicator in the prefix, so the province name is no longer required as a separate part of the address. The four digits in the new code are usually the same as in the 1999 4 digit code. The suffix now identifies a group of buildings within Code.

Argentinean addresses are written in the following format:

    RECIPIENT
    STREETNAME HOUSENUMBER - CORNER -
    [FLOOR/DEPARTMENT/DISTRICT_INFORMATION]
    POSTALCODE CITY
    ARGENTINA

  • Example:

    Ernesto Sabato
    Calle Carlos Pellegrini 961 - 3er Piso -
    C1009ABS Buenos Aires
    ARGENTINA

The Post Office Box designator is called Casilla de Correos in Argentina. A PO box address would look as follows:

    RECIPIENT
    Casilla de Correos POST_OFFICE_BOX_NUMBER
    [NAME_OF_POST_OFFICE]
    POSTALCODE CITY
    ARGENTINA

  • Example:

    Jorge Luis Borges
    Casilla de Correos 67
    A4126AAB Tala
    ARGENTINA

AddressDoctor products will help you to properly output addresses according to the rules above.

Speed comparison chart

Speed increase of up to 800% over previous versions

Along with the CASS certification our engineers have been busy with processing enhancements to the AddressDoctor engine. "This is probably the fastest AddressDoctor engine ever", says Adrian Zimny, Platon's Director of Software Development. Version 4.1.7.264 that was just released offers speed and enhancements of up to 800% over previous versions. See the graph at

64-Bit support on the horizon

With increasing data volumes in Data Warehouses and Master data management projects the demand for more speed is obvious. Not only has the AddressDoctor team been busy increasing the speed of the engine, they have also worked on a 64-Bit version that will be available as part of the 4.1.7 release shortly.

Improved processing for India

A country where the unusual is the usual is probably an accurate description, at least for addresses from India. More than one billion people with various ethnic background live in India. Addresses show a wide variety as a consequence. A new data set for India is now available as part of the AddressDoctor products. It offers a much improved processing especially for large cities like Mumbai or Delhi.
