Since January 2005, large address files can now be cleaned entirely online. Registered customers can upload text files of up to 100 MB in size, arrange a work order, and then download the corrected data shortly thereafter. Human interaction in the verification and correction process is no longer necessary.

Microsoft promotes AddressDoctor services in it’s Microsoft Office Online Marketplace making the correction of mailing address in MS Excel simple and quick. AddressDoctor for Excel was introduced in Germany, Great Britain, the US and Canada and is offered as a download.

With the new version 4.1 of the AddressDoctor software, the quality of reference data in Italy has been increased significantly. Letter and package shipments can now be dependably sent to Italy because of the new interactive mode that corrects Italian addresses with more certainty than ever before. Through cooperation with an external data supplier, AddressDoctor was able to obtain a street coverage of more than 97% - the official street directory of the Italian postal service covers hardly 30% of this area.

When delivering mail to Italy use the following guidelines:

• A postal address is constructed as follows:
  
  NAME
  THOROUGHFARE_NAME NUMBER
  POSTAL_CODE CITY PROVINCE
  ITALY
   
• A complete address looks like the following:
  
  Massimo Brunelli
  Via Roma 2
  50123 Firenze FI
  ITALY
   
• The province should always be indicated in the address, but only in form of its abbreviation

Zip Code System

Zip codes in Italy are always 5 digits and consist only of numbers. The first two numbers indicate the postal province, often different from the administrative province. These values are ambiguous because in many areas two provinces can have the same leading numbers. Of course, all AddressDoctor products support this format.
