With the planned last update of the reference database in the year 2008, AddressDoctor has updated another 19 databases containing information for 43 countries and territories. All in all in 2008, AddressDoctor has updated 299 databases covering 617 countries and territories.

Mauritius is planning to introduce a new postal code system. Both the Mauritius Ministry and postal authorities are emphasizing the need to invest and innovate through new products in order to achieve higher quality.

In November, AddressDoctor has updated reference data for 30 countries. Iraq, Saint Kitts and Nevis are among the newly updated countries and territories. For AddressDoctor's web services customers, these database updates are already in place.

Only 50% of all mail for New Zealand carries the correct postal code. In order to reduce costs caused by incorrectly addressed mail and improve deliverability, New Zealand Post has now launched another nationwide postal code reminder campaign.

In October, AddressDoctor has updated its reference data for 41 countries and territories, including Canada, the Philippines and Greece. In particular, the data for the verification of Greek addresses has been significantly enhanced.

The Mexican postal service's colors now shine in hot-pink and lime-green. Besides a new logo and new uniforms for postal employees, the all-around visual modernization includes pink and lime colored post offices. The government hopes that these activities will improve the tarnished reputation of the postal organization and increase sales.

In September, AddressDoctor updated reference data for 46 countries and territories. Deserving special mention are the databases for Lithuania and Armenia. The reference data used for address verification are revised monthly. As a result, the processing with AddressDoctor is always up-to-date - for 246 countries around the world.

AddressDoctor has improved engine speed by further 33.9%! As a result, especially processing of large address databases has been significantly improved. This is mainly made possible by optimized caching of previously processed database areas in main memory.

With the August update of the reference databases, AddressDoctor updates 58 countries and territories worldwide - more countries than ever before within one month. Malaysia, Venezuela and Panama are among the countries with the newest data. This year, the matter “Post and Environmental Protection" plays an important role at the convention.

Due to the large number of updated databases, AddressDoctor will release databases twice in July 2008. Currently, 43 of the 246 countries and territories supported by AddressDoctor have already been released. 13 additional countries and territories will follow. With the second release, AddressDoctor expects to have a total of 56 countries and territories released.

Austrian Post has adjusted its addressing standards according to changing general conditions and resolved some ambiguous addresses from its postal database. The locality of an Austrian address is no longer the municipality, but the town. This change also affects the writing of addresses. To wit, the additional use of town districts in ambiguous addresses is no longer necessary. This measure has also improved the processing of Austrian addresses within AddressDoctor.

The extraordinary length of time involved in delivering mail to US Virgin Mail, or not even being delivered at all, has created an unacceptable situation.

Kosovo has declared its independence from Serbia. AddressDoctor will list Kosovo as the 247th country when an ISO-code is assigned to this country. Postal code data for Kosovo, created by the UN Interim Administration, are already available to the public.

Today, AddressDoctor's new release includes 19 databases covering 43 countries and territories. AddressDoctor has achieved CASS Certification for its software libraries. The United States Postal Service (USPS) defined new CASS Certification requirements for the current CASS Cycle L including DPV and LACSLink.

Correos de Costa Rica intends to implement a standardized system of addresses. According to Los Angeles Times, the postal service is assigning numbers, street names and postal codes to every home and building in the country, which measures about 20,000 square miles. A descriptive form of addressing is currently used by most senders in Costa Rica, geared to Points of Interests like Churches, Schools – or quite recently better known locations like "Pizza Hut" (see AddressDoctor News from August 20, 2007).
