Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands is widely recognized to be one of the leading offshore financial centers. To deal with the increasing mail volume the Cayman Postal Service introduced a 7 digit postal code. The first two digits are always KY for Cayman Island followed by 1 for Grand Cayman, 2 for Cayman Brac and 3 for Little Cayman. The last four digits separated with a hyphen determine the Post Offices, Post Agencies and the associated post boxes.

Ordinary mail including only the street name will not be accepted and returned to sender. The address format for post box addresses is as follows:

RECIPIENT
P.O. Box_OFFICE_BOX_NUMBER
ISLAND POSTALCODE
CAYMAN ISLANDS

Example:

Steward Brown
P.O. Box 335
Cayman Brac KY2-2002
CAYMAN ISLANDS

The word “Island” in front of the island name does not form part of the address. Historically, “BWI” (British West Indies) was used as a part of postal address for the Cayman Islands. This practice has been discontinued as the British West Indies no longer exist politically or geographically.

General delivery address format is slightly different:

RECIPIENT
GENERAL DELIVERY
[NAME_OF_POST_OFFICE/AGENCY]
ISLAND POSTALCODE
CAYMAN ISLANDS

Example:

Bob Builder
General Delivery
West Bay Post Office
Grand Cayman KY1-1300
CAYMAN ISLANDS

Platon has already obtained the new data and is planning to release it as part of the upcoming software update in February of 2007.
